LIinosa it’s a small island between Sicily and Africa which you can reach only by ferry from Porto Empedocle or from Lampedusa.
There live only 450 inhabitants.
The local economy is based mainly on fishing and tourism.
The island has volcanic origins. Local houses are very colourful and nice to take a picture of.
Divers will feel like being in the Caribbean sea.
The Greeks used to call it Algusa which means the island of eagles.
The Romans made some cisterns for collecting rain water next to the harbour but after the Punic Wars they abandoned the island. In 1845 Linosa was colonised by a small group of people after the decision made by the Governor Bernardo Maria Sanvisente.
